GEC Experience
CNRL Fuel Storage Tank
In 2007, GEC Installations
erected large fuel storage tanks in Alberta for Canadian Natural
Resources Limited (CNRL). The tanks, which are approximately 35
feet high and 85 feet in diameter, are used to store jet fuel. The
project took six months to complete and employed up to 200
personnel. Under extremely tight deadlines, GEC was able complete
the project on-time with 0 Lost-time Accidents (LTA).
IPS Froth Treatment Tanks
From April 2006 to January
2008, GEC constructed 14 Inclined Plate Separator (IPS) Tanks at
CNRL's Froth Treat Plant in Alberta. The tanks were sub-contracted
through Pennecon Energy. Each IPS tank has a capacity of 1 million
litres and weighs approximately 137 tonnes. The hopper, which is
the bottom of the cone, is 94 feet from the ground. The
pre-fabricated materials for the tanks came to GEC in 8 pieces and
were assembled modularly in a jig and lifted into its racks with a
crane.
The duration of the project was approximately 18 months, employing 200 personnel, with 0 LTA.
CNRL Tank Farm Pipe Fabrication
To complement the IPS
Froth Treatment Tanks, GEC installed approximately 5.2 km of piping
of various diameters. This project was completed in 8 months, using
up to 100 employees, with 0 LTA.
