Jim Buckingham
Vice President, Quality, Health, Safety & Environment, DFB Group

Jim Buckingham joined the DFB team in February 2008. He was a Quality Manager at Ozark Electrical and has also taught at the Marine Institute's Offshore Safety and Survival Centre. Jim holds an Engineering Degree in Naval Architecture and Ocean Engineering from Memorial University. Like others at the DFB Group, Jim comes from an entrepreneurial background. He has owned a number of businesses and was a manufacturing representative for GEC Alstom for electrical switchgear, mechanical systems and electric motors.


Bill Butler
HSE Coordinator, Orphan Industries Limited

Bill Butler has been with DFB Group for four years.  He has held various positions as a Truck Driver, Boom Truck Operator and Material Management Coordinator before recently taking on the role of HSE Coordinator of our Orphan Industries Limited facility. Bill is continuously adding to his already strong safety background by attending WHSCC and NLSCA seminars. Bill regularly attends industry based forums to implement new safety ideas and lessons learned into our daily operations. He is a member of the Occupational Health and Safety Committee, has completed the Leadership for Safety Excellence (LSE) course and is currently working towards completing his Construction Safety Officer (CSO) certification. Bill's well-developed understanding of specific work practices as Material Management Coordinator and various other positions with DFB Group has been of particular importance in identifying and addressing safety hazards before they become incidents.


Doug Hefford
HSE Coordinator, D.F. Barnes Services Limited

Doug Hefford has been employed with DF Barnes for 12 years as a machinist, repairing and fabricating parts for a wide variety of industries. Doug has recently taken on the role of HSE Coordinator of DF Barnes Services Limited for our Sudbury Street location. Doug is a member of DFB Group's Occupational Health and Safety Committee. His in depth knowledge of specific labor tasks as a machinist and lead head on various projects with DFB Group has been of significant importance in putting safety into practice at all levels of the organization. Doug brings new safety practices and lessons learned to DFB Group's daily operations from attending industry based safety forums. Doug has completed his Leadership for Safety Excellence (LSE) course and is currently in the process of completing his Construction Safety Officer (CSO) certification. Doug has been a great addition to ensuring constant improvement in DFB Group's safety statistics.


Occupational Health and Safety Committee

The Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) Committee is an internal forum of shop floor, administration and management representatives which meet on a monthly basis to discuss findings of safety inspections and incidents. The OHS Committee ensure compliance with DFB Group's companywide safety policy as well as all safety legislation in place.
